25 Days of Christmas Tags | Birch Press

Welcome to Day 11 of 25 Days of Christmas Tags!

I am thrilled to participate in this fun and festive series hosted by Tracey McNeelyToday, I will be sharing two tags I made using products from today’s sponsor — Birch Press Design. Birch Press Design is known for their intricate and beautiful layered dies, so of course I was super excited to be using their products to create something very special for the holidays!

For the first tag, I used one of the dies from the ‘Kinsley’ layered die set. Although this set consists of three dies (A, B, and C) layered together to create a dimensional design, I used it a little differently by just using one die (A). First, I die cut layer A three times in heavyweight white cardstock then glued each layer together to create a thicker, more stable frame.

Next, to fill in the negative space, I die cut layer A using red, green, and silver glitter cardstock from the ‘Holiday Glitter Pad’ and used pieces from each color to fill in the frame. Once complete, I cut a solid piece of cardstock the same size as the frame to use as the backing. (This is where you will write your gift message.)

Tip: make sure to keep all pieces of the die cut together to make filling in the frame easier. You can also use Press ‘N Seal or Post-it tape for this.

Next, I die cut the ‘Joy’ word die and shadow twice in white cardstock, adhered them together, and placed it on top of the banner, which I die cut in vellum from the ‘Christmas Ornaments and Labels’ set.

To finish, I used a hole puncher to make a small hole and added a silver ribbon!

For my second tag, I use the ‘Flicker Ornament’ layer die set (layers A, B, and C). I first die cut Layer A in red glitter cardstock, layer B once in heavyweight white cardstock and once each in silver, red, and green glitter cardstock, and layer C in heavyweight white cardstock.

I adhered layer B to layer C (both in heavyweight white cardstock), then filled in the floral design using the silver, red, and green cardstock. Once that was done, I adhered layer A in red glitter on top as the main body of the ornament. Now, on to the tag base! For this, I wanted to add some texture and dimension so I dry embossed the ‘String Art Nativity Star’ frame die onto a heavyweight white cardstock tag then glued the completed ornament on top.

To finish, I used the ‘Christmas Ornaments and Labels’ die set to make the ornament cap and banner. For the banner, I die cut it once in white and once in vellum, heat embossed ‘Merry Christmas’ on the vellum and adhered it onto the white layer then glued the completed banner to the bottom of the tag. For the cap, I used silver glitter cardstock, glued it to the top of the ornament, then hole punched it and added silver ribbon!
