Crackle Background | Simon Says Stamp

Hi friends!

Today’s card is one that I designed and made with a few new items I purchased from the Simon Says Stamp Lets Connect release!

To create the background, I used the Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background Stamp, stamping it onto a piece of heavyweight black cardstock with a Versamark Embossing Ink Pad. To achieve the gold blending effect, I covered half of the background with WOW Embossing Powder in Clear and the other half in Gold. I purposely didn’t make the transition sharp as I wanted the embossing powder to have a flow and fade going from the clear to gold.

Once this step was complete, I cut the black cardstock down to a 4”x 5.25” piece and glued it directly onto a piece of A2 size Neenah 110lb white cardstock base.

Next, I cut two flowers using the Poppy Stem Wafer Die and glued them on top of each other for double thickness - something I often do with more delicate die cuts to add stability. I colored in the flower using my favorite Copic markers (in this case R14, R27, R46 and YG23, YG17, G29) and once complete, I glued it directly onto my background.

Lastly, I chose a sentiment from the All Things Happy Sentiment Strips and used black foam squares to place it over the stem of the flower.

Not what I would have guessed dreaming up and creating on a sunny summer day in August, but I’ll take it!

Thanks for stopping by!

♡ Dee
